Exploring Colorado Chronicles 8/14/25-8/16
I know I’m going to look back at this time that is flying by and wish I had recorded some of what is going on, so here I go, honoring my future self. I love a good chronology, so here goes…

8/14 - Finished stay in Woodland Park, drove into Denver to meet Lauren and her dog Milo who I’ll be watching in just under a week. Also had an in-person interview scheduled with Bet365, but emailed to try to reschedule (for the second time) because I had Deena with me and could not bring myself to leave her in my car or in the parking garage while doing the interview. They canceled the interview and are “moving on with other candidates.”
I didn’t know where I was going to stay this night. I knew I wouldn’t know where I was going to stay this night, but as the scheduled appointments were met and I was left with open space, I started to feel it more. The literal homelessness and wanting to stay conservative with my money as my next infusion is unforeseen.
I sat under a tree in one of the many parks in Denver. I thought about the areas I wanted to explore. I remembered I could stay at a KOA somewhere and looked up some options. I called my mom just to break down some of the animal experiences I had so far. Once I got off the phone and got some gas, I realized I wanted to go to Fort Collins as I had considered living there since 2007.
I drove up to FC, drove to Chipotle that was near the college. Missed the turn and ended up in this beautiful green area amidst a dozen trees. Got out of the car and walked through these magical trees with Deena.
Then, got Chipotle. While deciding where to sit and eat it, looked up the KOA, drove there and ate my dinner. Went into the office, made a reservation for a campsite, set up my tent.

In the meantime I got a confirmation from someone in Breckenridge who wanted a sitter for the weekend.
Played games on my phone until bedtime. Woke up slowly, soaked in the beautiful trees.
8/14-8/15 Stayed at the KOA in Fort Collins
8/15 - drove to Breckenridge from Fort Collins. Keenly aware of how sensitive I am to my car and when I’m on long trips, especially up and down mountains, I have an ongoing, persistent fear about getting stuck and something happening to my car. When funds feel tight and my car feels funky, I’m afraid. I did make it to Breckenridge.
8/15/25-8/17/25 Staying in Breckenridge in Megan’s condo with Declan, the beautiful, giant, mountain Golden.
8/16 - I did not sleep well while camping, but I made up for it last night. I had incredibly active dreams, but woke up feeling rested. The elevation here is no joke. It’s at 9200 feet, and I’m staying on the third floor of this condo building. I’ve been going up and down stairs for the last month in Denver and Woodland Park, but throw in another 2-4k feet, and it’s like it’s brand new. This condo is lovely. It’s minimalist, clean and has lovely edges - not all square corners. There is amazing light and vaulted ceilings. Declan, the dog, is a gentleman. He listens well. He could easily pull me down the stairs, but waits for my cue to make his move. He and Deena are just fine in each others’ company.
I have an interview Monday with a company I really want to work for doing a job I really want to do. I have spent the morning using ChatGPT to help me with the “tell me a time when you…” interview questions. I also signed up for the 5 day challenge with this company so I can get a sense of what it’s about.
This concludes my current chronicle. I’m going to watch some of The Residence which I turned on last night and am delighted by.
